Papon

Angaraag “Papon” Mahanta is an acclaimed Indian singer, composer, and producer from Assam. Born in 1975 into a family of celebrated folk artists, he blends Assamese folk traditions with modern sounds and soulful vocals. He began his career in 1998 and later founded the folk-fusion band Papon and The East India Company. His breakthrough in Bollywood came with hits like “Jiyein Kyun,” “Moh Moh Ke Dhaage,” and “Bulleya.” A versatile live performer and occasional mentor, Papon continues to innovate across genres, honoured for his ability to bridge traditional roots and contemporary expression.
