Multi-faceted is the word that best describes Farhan Akhtar. The young and talented actor was born in artistic surroundings to the great poet Jawed Akhtar and director Honey Irani. Farhan has made it to the list of some of the most imaginative and innovative filmmakers in Bollywood.
He started his career at the age of 17 as an assistant director to Yash Chopra for Lamhe and Himalayputra. Farhan has a production company Excel Entertainment in partnership with Ritesh Sidhwani.
Farhan Akhtar made his directorial debut with Dil Chahta Hai in 2001. The film was acclaimed for the lucidity of script and the zeal in its making. The movie redefined the golden rules of friendship and went on to become one of the most applauded movies of the decade.
Farhan’s next project was Lakshya in 2004. Although the movie did not do that well at the Box office, it was praised by critics. Farhan also directed Don, a remake of Amitabh Bacchan’s superhit of 1978. Akhtar cast Shah Rukh Khan as the new Don and the movie was a blockbuster of 2006.
Then came Rock On! In this movie, Farhan acted and sang and produced. He even wrote the dialogues for the movie. Farhan along with his Rock On crew – Arjun Rampal, Luke Kenny and Purab Kohli toured whole of India enchanting crowds with their magic and thrilling music.
On a personal front, Farhan is a great family man too, He is happily married to Adhuna Bhabani and they have two lovely daughters Shakya and Akira.
