The Thebarton Community Centre in Kings Reserve was designed as an iconic ‘pavilion in the Park’ to create a community centric environment that landmarks the northern gateway to the City of West Torrens’ . The dominant built form with folded roof planes and wide overhangs references movement and flight, reflective of the irregular site and its proximity to Adelaide Airport. The use of materials create a play between screening and transparency.
