The Mahalaxmi Racecourse, located in the Mahalaxmi neighborhood of Mumbai, is a prominent horse racing venue. The track, which spans around 225 acres of land, is oval-shaped with a 2,400-meter straight chute, making it one of the largest and most famous racing facilities in India. Originally built on marshy land known as Mahalakshmi Flats, the racecourse has a rich history dating back to the 19th century.
Today, it hosts some of India’s most prestigious races, including the Indian Derby, and is an important part of Mumbai’s cultural and social landscape. The racecourse is not only known for its horse races but also for offering a scenic green space in the heart of the city, with views of the Arabian Sea and Mumbai’s skyline.
