ATKV Wynand Mouton Theatre is a well‑established performing arts venue located in Bloemfontein, used for a wide range of theatre and cultural events. It is named after Wynand Mouton and is closely associated with the University of the Free State’s Department of Drama and Theatre Arts, where it is one of the primary performance spaces on campus.
The theatre features a professional stage with full technical facilities, including a large proscenium stage, orchestra pit, fly system, and seating for approximately 330 patrons, making it suitable for both drama productions and larger theatre events. Performances here range from university and student productions to professional touring shows and festival presentations.
ATKV Wynand Mouton Theatre also plays an important role in the ATKV‑organised youth drama festivals, particularly ATKV‑Tienertoneel and ATKV‑Tjokkertoneel regional festivals, where young performers and school groups stage their productions as part of nationwide competitions celebrating Afrikaans theatre and performance.
Situated on Nelson Mandela Drive in the Park West area of Bloemfontein, the venue is both a cultural landmark and community performance space, hosting events during arts festivals such as the Vrystaat Kunstefees and other seasonal programmes that draw local and visiting audiences.
