Rekha Bhardwaj, renowned for her soulful Sufi, Bollywood, and Ghazal performances, is a National Award-winning singer celebrated for her distinct voice and impactful contributions to numerous film soundtracks. She began her musical journey in 1997 with the film Chachi 420, debuting with the song “Ek Who Din Bhi,” marking the start of her collaboration with acclaimed music director Vishal Bhardwaj.
Over the years, she has worked with many leading figures in the Bollywood music industry, delivering iconic songs like “Tere Ishq Mein,” “Kabira,” and “Namak,” along with a notable bandish in Raag Puriya. Her partnership with A.R. Rahman earned her a Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer for “Sasural Genda Phool” from the film Delhi-6.
Bhardwaj’s talent has been consistently recognized, with the National Film Award in 2010 for her song in Ishqiya, followed by another Filmfare win for “Darling” from 7 Khoon Maaf. She continued to garner acclaim with a 2013 Filmfare nomination for Dedh Ishqiya and a Hum Awards nomination for Best Original Soundtrack for Humnasheen.
