At the time of its opening, it was the tallest man-made structure in the British Empire. Inspired by Paris’s Eiffel Tower, Blackpool Tower stands 518 feet (158 meters) tall and ranks as the 125th tallest freestanding tower worldwide. The name “Blackpool Tower” also refers to the Tower Buildings, a red-brick, three-storey entertainment complex that includes the tower itself, the Tower Circus, the Tower Ballroom, and rooftop gardens. This historic complex has been designated a Grade I listed building.
