Elkah Cricket Stadium, officially known as the Soweto Cricket Oval, is a multi-purpose sporting venue located in Soweto, Gauteng province, South Africa, that opened in 1973 and has a seating capacity of approximately 8,000 spectators. Designed by Noero Architects, the stadium is primarily used for local cricket matches but has also hosted football games, community activities, and cultural events. Over the years, it has played a notable role in South African cricket history, including hosting a first-class match between South Africa and England in October 1995 that ended in a draw, as well as several List A fixtures and matches during the 1998 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Beyond its sporting significance, the stadium remains an important community hub in Soweto, regularly accommodating festivals and cultural celebrations that highlight its broader social and cultural importance.
