About
The fourth edition of the festival kicks off in April. Through a diverse array of exciting programmes such as stage performances, thematic exhibitions, film screenings and library plus outreach activities, the festival ushers the public into a cultural space where reality is interwoven with illusion. Audiences can expect dialogues between the erhu and the ensemble, a fusion of film and pop music, fantastical romance captured in light and shadow, and whimsy woven into words, allowing them to savour the spirit of innovation in our pop culture and its power to transcend boundaries.
A highlight of the festival, the outdoor installation Pop Unboxed is co-curated with the Hong Kong Design Institute and led by a new generation of designers. Using ‘beyond fantasy’ creativity, it deconstructs Hong Kong’s pop culture through music, fashion, comics, spatial design and original IP. Four themed showcases blend heritage and innovation, from a new Ten Brothers art toy with reimagined comics to a cinematic neon check-in zone, surreal avant-garde fashion and a curated showcase of vinyl covers by legendary female singers presented alongside the works of a virtual singer.
