KaMeeNi is a bold and thought-provoking theatrical experience that explores gender, culture, and identity within the Pakistani-Australian community. ABOUT THE WRITER

Abida Malik is a mother of four, Senior Business Analyst, Lead Facilitator/Trainer, Actor and an advocate for women’s empowerment, people with disabilities, seniors, and indigenous Australians.

As a creative for Dramatic Arts, she starred in the 2019 hit play Curry Kings of Parramatta for Nautanki Theatre. She performed the role of Gori B in the Urdu language play, Mughal Bachcha, at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA). She has worked on stage and screen and as Art and Culture Director, implemented multiple projects to bring cinema and theatre to multicultural audiences.

Abida has a love and passion for books, and is the President and founder of Book Club – For the Love of Reading.
She is a Keynote speaker, community spokesperson, and has led multiple forums. Abida works as a cross-cultural consultant with a passion for diversity, representation, and storytelling.

Kameeni is Abida’s inaugural writing for the stage and second premiere after sold shows in 2025. Adding to the female lense, she is also directing the play.
