Atul Purohit, a renowned figure in the world of music, has earned acclaim as a pioneering Gabra singer who has redefined classical music boundaries. His journey began in his childhood when he discovered his musical talent and moved to Baroda to pursue his passion. Over the years, he has captivated audiences with his melodious renditions, including popular songs like “Tara Vina Shyam” and “Vhalamni Vaat Kai”, alongside his expertise in Gujarati folk (Garba) and devotional music, notably Sunderkand.

Born on February 27, 1957, in the small village of Dholka near Dabhoi, Atul Purohit showed an early affinity for music, acquiring his first harmonium at the age of ten and teaching himself to play. His musical journey led him to Baroda, where he initially performed locally and collaborated with other artists, gradually gaining recognition.

The Rutambara Group, a prominent ensemble associated with United Way of Vadodara, has been a cornerstone of Atul Purohit’s performances, notably during the Navratri festival. United Way of Vadodara boasts the largest annual gathering for Navratri celebrations, a spectacle that has drawn international attention, even prompting Guinness World Record applications for its massive attendance.
