Vir Das: Hey Stranger in Singapore 2026
About
Emmy-winning comedian and actor Vir Das is one of the most prominent global voices in stand-up today, celebrated for his sharp wit and boundary-breaking performances. Hailed by The New York Times as embodying “the globalization of stand-up,” Vir’s recent Netflix special, Fool Volume, which he also directed, was praised by Vulture as “a uniquely sumptuous experience,” following his Emmy-winning special Landing and his earlier acclaimed work, Vir Das: For India. This fall, he makes his literary debut with his memoir The Outsider, chronicling his journey as a perpetual outsider using humor to navigate heartbreak, failure, and the quest for belonging. As India’s leading comedian and a Bollywood star, Vir has performed over 180 shows worldwide, including runs at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and headline performances at iconic venues such as Carnegie Hall and London’s Eventim Apollo. Beyond stand-up, he has created, produced, and starred in acclaimed projects including the ABC drama-comedy Whiskey Cavalier, Netflix’s Hasmukh, Amazon’s travel series Jestination Unknown, and appeared in Judd Apatow’s Netflix film The Bubble, while also fronting India’s premier comedy-rock band, Alien Chutney, and developing multiple new film and TV projects.
