Artscape Theatre Centre is a major performing arts complex located on D.F. Malan Street in the Foreshore district of Cape Town, South Africa. Opened in 1971 and formerly known as the Nico Malan Theatre Centre, it is the largest performing arts venue in the Western Cape and a central hub for theatre, music, opera, ballet, and dance productions. The modern theatre complex features several performance spaces, including a grand Opera House with seating for about 1,487 guests, a mid-sized theatre with around 540 seats, and a more intimate arena theatre accommodating approximately 140 people. Home to prominent arts organizations such as the Cape Town Opera, Cape Town City Ballet, and the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra, Artscape hosts a wide variety of local and international productions, cultural festivals, and community programs, making it a key cultural landmark in Cape Town’s vibrant arts and entertainment scene.
