Hollywood Casino Amphitheater

Hollywood Casino Amphitheater is a major outdoor concert venue that opened on June 14, 1991, following a construction investment of approximately $12 million, with its inaugural performance by Steve Winwood. Shortly after its opening, the venue became widely known for the historic Riverport Riot on July 2, 1991, which took place during a Guns N’ Roses concert on their Use Your Illusion Tour. Originally built by local promoter Contemporary Group, the amphitheater later came under the ownership of SFX in 1998, whose corporate successor, Live Nation Entertainment, continues to own and operate the venue today. Over the years, the venue has seen several naming rights changes, including UMB Bank in 2002 and Verizon Wireless in 2006, before Live Nation announced a multi-year title sponsorship agreement with Hollywood Casino in December 2014. Despite the rebranding, many residents across the St. Louis area still fondly refer to the venue by its original name, “Riverport.”
