Established in February 1927, Huntingtower began as a co-educational boarding school situated on Huntingtower Road in Armadale. The school’s name derives from the original house built by John Crawley in 1858, presumed to be named after Huntingtower Castle in Scotland. By the end of its inaugural year, Huntingtower had fifty students, including twelve boarders, ranging from kindergarten to Year 11, with a faculty comprising four permanent teachers and eight visiting teachers. Over the following decades, the school expanded, necessitating a move to its current location in Mount Waverley in 1954. The school crest features an open book symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and intertwined letters ‘HT’, while the Latin motto “Nosce te Ipsum” encapsulates the school’s ethos of self-discovery. Today, the Huntingtower Performing Arts Centre stands as a testament to the school’s commitment to holistic education and artistic expression.
