Kultur- und Kongresszentrum Gera is one of the largest and most important event venues in eastern Thuringia, located in the city center of Gera, Germany. Commonly called “KuK,” the venue has hosted concerts, musicals, comedy shows, conferences, exhibitions, cultural festivals, and corporate events for more than 40 years.
The building originally opened in 1981 and is considered a notable example of late East German modernist architecture. Its exterior combines sandstone, bronze-colored aluminum, and glass, while the interior features large open foyers and a multifunctional auditorium. One of its artistic highlights is the protected 450 m² relief artwork “Lied des Lebens,” created by several DDR sculptors under Jo Jastram.
