Mahajati Sadan is a historic and culturally significant auditorium situated on Chittaranjan Avenue in central Kolkata. Established in 1939 and inaugurated with support from prominent Indian leaders, it has long been a venue for Bengali theatre productions, seminars, exhibitions, and cultural events. The fully air-conditioned hall seats over 1,300 people and includes a seminar room and a library housing rare research materials related to the freedom movement and social sciences. Rabindranath Tagore once referred to it as the “House of the Nation,” highlighting its importance in the Indian independence era and in Kolkata’s cultural life.
