Orpheum Theatre is a historic performing arts venue located in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, along the city’s well-known Hennepin Avenue Theatre District. Originally opened in 1921 as the Hennepin Theatre, the venue quickly became one of the largest vaudeville houses in the United States and a major entertainment destination in the region.
The theatre features an elegant Beaux-Arts architectural style with ornate decorative details, a grand auditorium, and an impressive lobby. Today, it has a seating capacity of around 2,500 guests, offering excellent acoustics and clear sightlines that make it ideal for large theatrical productions and concerts.
Over the decades, Orpheum Theatre has hosted a wide range of performances including Broadway musicals, live concerts, comedy shows, and special events. Major touring productions such as The Lion King, The Phantom of the Opera, and other Broadway hits have been staged at the venue.
After undergoing a major restoration in the early 1990s, the theatre reopened and continues to operate under Hennepin Arts, which manages several historic theatres in Minneapolis.
Today, Orpheum Theatre remains one of Minnesota’s premier cultural venues, attracting audiences from across the region for world-class performances and entertainment.
