The venue has a seating capacity of around 130–148 people, offering a flexible performance environment that allows artists to experiment with staging, storytelling, and audience interaction in a more intimate setting.
space.com functions as part of the youth and community development programme of Joburg Theatre. It provides artists with performance space, rehearsal facilities, technical support, marketing assistance, and mentorship to help develop and present new work.
The venue regularly hosts small-scale theatre productions, experimental plays, script readings, workshops, and emerging artist showcases. Many productions that begin at space.com later move on to larger stages within the theatre complex.
