Teatro di tradizione Alfonso Rendano is the historic municipal theatre located in Piazza XV Marzo, in the heart of Cosenza’s old town. Named after the local pianist and composer Alfonso Rendano, it’s the only officially recognised “Teatro di tradizione” in the Calabria region due to its long history of hosting opera, symphonic music, theatre, and cultural performances. Built in neoclassical style with three tiers of velvet-covered boxes and rich interior décor, the venue has played a central cultural role in the city since its inauguration in 1909 and continues to present opera seasons, concerts, dramatic works, and festivals for both locals and visitors.
