Vijay Prakash, born on 21 February 1976 in Karnataka, is an Indian playback singer and music director known for his work in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Marathi films. He has also performed with Zakir Hussain. In 2016, he won the Karnataka Government’s ‘Best Playback Singer’ award for the song “Nammooralli Chaligaladalli” from Beautiful Manasugalu.
Prakash is one of the four artists credited for singing the song “Jai Ho,” which won the 2008 Academy Award for Best Original Song and a Grammy Award. He has also won two Filmfare Awards for Best Male Playback Singer – Kannada for the songs “Gatiya Ilidu” from Ulidavaru Kandanthe and “Belageddu” from Kirik Party.
