He has also performed with Zakir Hussain. In 2016, he won the Karnataka Government’s ‘Best Playback Singer’ award for the song “Nammooralli Chaligaladalli” from Beautiful Manasugalu.
Prakash is one of the four artists credited for singing the song “Jai Ho,” which won the 2008 Academy Award for Best Original Song and a Grammy Award. He has also won two Filmfare Awards for Best Male Playback Singer – Kannada for the songs “Gatiya Ilidu” from Ulidavaru Kandanthe and “Belageddu” from Kirik Party. He is a judge on the Kannada and Tamil reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on Zee Kannada and Zee Tamil, and the Telugu show Padutha Theeyaga on ETV.
